Pre-operation Advice
Not to feed the baby 2 hrs before the procedure. This is to prevent the infant from chocking. - Apply local anesthetic cream (EMLA -provided in your pre-op care kit.) to the infant’s penis an hour before the surgery. Apply small quantity thinly over the skin like a face cream.
- Please bring along two NAPPIES and a TOWEL for the infant. This will be used after the procedure.
- Dr. Sundaresan will explain the procedure in detail and obtain the consent for the procedure from both parents.
- We generally allow one member of the family to witness the procedure.
- The surgery will be performed under local anesthesia (Injection at the base of the penis) and circumcision is performed using Plastibell Technique*.
- The procedure takes about 30 minutes to complete.
