  • Bath: Babies could have regular baths from  the next day ( minimum once a day)
  • Remember to check the baby for bleeding for the first 5-6 hours (This is very important).
  • If there is any bleeding please  contact Dr Sundaresan  immediately. There will be some staining of the dressing which can be quite red this is normal and occurs when your baby passes urine on the first few occasions. Over the first few hours this redness should slowly become lighter and lighter.

  • Do not forget to apply paraffin (in your pack) on to your dressing every time you change his nappy for 2 weeks . This will keep the dressing lubricated.( keep the paraffin away from fire)
  • Following the procedure the penile tip tend to be swollen and red due to the ring itself, which would settle gradually over 2 weeks. As long as the baby been passing urine  there is no need to worry.
  • The plastic ring usually drops off 5 – 10 days after circumcision, but on some occasions it could drop much earlier  from day 1.
  • Following the separation of the ring you will notice a  white ring shaped area like a thread (which is a dead skin) which should disappear over few days and it is not an infection.
  • A dark brown or black area around the plastic ring is natural. This will disappear when the ring drops off.
